This faculty started its activities in 1988 by establishing two BSc programs in Computer Engineering (Software) and Computer Engineering (Hardware). MSc programs in Computer Architecture and Software Engineering were launched in 1995. The department developed its activities by establishing a BSc program in Information Technology, an MSc program in Artificial Intelligence as well as PhD programs in Computer Architecture and Software Engineering. The first group of PhD students of Artificial Intelligence were admitted to the program in 2008. An MSc program in Computer Networks was established in 2011 and two other MSc programs in E-commerce and Information Security were established in 2012. The PhD program in Information Security was launched in 2013.
Currently, the Faculty of Computer Engineering, benefiting from about 30 faculty members who can cover a comprehensive range of expertise, includes the four departments of Information Technology Engineering, Computer Architecture Engineering, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering. This faculty, which is regarded as one of the outstanding Computer Engineering faculties across the country, is responsible for the educational and research activities of about 850 students. A number of PhD graduates of this department are engaged in educational and research activities in universities across the country.
