Following the formation and establishment of the political system of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, major changes were introduced in the country’s cultural, economic and social spheres. One of these changes was the Cultural Revolution which took place in the universities of the Islamic Iran. As a result the Department of Islamic Teachings was established in the University to offer general courses in all B.A programs on topics such as Islamic teaching and Islamic thoughts (1 and 2), The Roots of the Islamic Revolution, the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Familiarity with the Resources of Koran and Nahjul Balagha Interpretation, the History of Islam and Islamic Ethics. The Department of Islamic Teachings in the University of Isfahan started its activities under the supervision of Jihad Daneshgahi in 1981 and continued its activities under the supervision of the Office for the Supreme Leader's Representative since 1983. Since 1994 this department developed both qualitatively and quantitatively by means of employing experienced teachers under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Education. In 2003 this department was detached from the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Education and joined the big faculty of Literature and Human Sciences. Considering the scientific potentials of the Department of Islamic Teachings and the other cooperating departments within the University, an M.A program in Teaching Islamic Thoughts in the subdiscipline of theoretical foundations as well as another M.A program in Shiite Studies in the subdiscipline of Kalam was established. Currently, the final measures for admitting students to a program in Teaching Islamic Thoughts in the subdiscipline of Familiarity with Islamic Resources have been taken. This department is benefiting from 10 full-time faculty members and about 20 part-time teachers. General Courses are offered for 4500 B.A students per semester on average. There are now more than 40 M.A students majoring in programs in Teaching Islamic Thoughts and Shiite Studies
