Introduction
This center was established as a part of implementing a development plan called “the Project of Developing Entrepreneurship in Universities across the Country” (KARAD). The program was designed and implemented by the Management and Planning Organization of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2009. The Entrepreneurship Center in the University of Isfahan started its activities with a short delay compared to other universities in the country in September 2003. This center, following the KARAD bylaws, is active in promotional and educational areas.
Defining Entrepreneurship
What is entrepreneurship?
According to BusinessDictionary.com entrepreneurship is “The capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit. The most obvious example of entrepreneurship is the starting of new businesses. Entrepreneurial spirit is characterized by innovation and risk-taking.” Different factors can lead to an individual’s turning into an entrepreneur, for instance the need for success, fame, and more importantly the need for feeling useful and independent.
Who is an entrepreneur?
An entrepreneur is an individual who has an internal control over himself. In order to put his resolutions and ideas into practice he needs to be his own director and employer. An entrepreneur needs independence. His dynamic mind crosses the predetermined boundaries and challenges common stereotypes. Although he sees what everyone else can see, he thinks in a way that others cannot. An entrepreneur is creative. Innovation occurs when the entrepreneur’s creativity is transferred from his mind to action. Innovation means taking a road that has never been taken. The person who is the first to take a road is the first to inform others of the lurking dangers. In other words an entrepreneur is a venturesome person.
