The Faculty of Geographical Sciences and Planning started its activities as the Department of Geography by establishing a B.A program in 1966. An M.A program in Geography was launched in 1987 by admitting four students. And the PhD program was established in 1992 to admit three students. This faculty has been active since 2010 under the name of the Faculty of Geographical Sciences and Planning with three departments of Geography and Rural Planning, Geography and Urban Planning and Physical Geography. There are 21 faculty members in the faculty and more than 650 students are studying in B.A, M.A and PhD programs in the five subdisciplines of Urban Planning, Rural Planning, Climatology, Geomorphology and Geography and Tourism Planning. This faculty is equipped with soil and water laboratory, cartography hall, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), urban planning workshop, Center of Excellence on Geography and the Research Institute of Geography.
