 5-Year Goals and Perspectives of the Central Laboratory of the University of Isfahan

•  Increasing the rate of utilization of research facilities and equipment
• providing the platforms necessary for conducting basic and applied researches
• Optimizing the utilization of the research potentials of the faculty
  members
• Enhancing the quality of education and research in postgraduate students
• Establishing links between laboratories within and outside the University in order to provide interactive services
• Establishing links with scientific, research and industrial institutions and companies in order to provide interactive services
• Providing counseling services and conducting various high-quality laboratory activities in different fields
• Meeting the standard requirements in conducting tests
• Standardizing the maintenance of existing equipment and the calibration of apparatuses
• Implementing management standards to enhance roductivity in laboratories
• Employing qualified personnel for the laboratories to ensure the accuracy and precision of the experiment results; familiarizing all laboratory technicians with all operational methods in dealing with laboratory affairs and enhancing their skills and efficiency through continual, systematic and planned education
• Creating a database of the laboratory equipment and major equipment needs of the University

Perspectives

• Purchasing and equipping the laboratory with new apparatuses which can be used by researchers of more than one discipline, for instance TEM, SEM, ICP, Atomic Absorption, LC-MS and offering their related services.
• Establishing and equipping the Water Reference Laboratory
• Establishing Electronics Laboratory
• Providing distance-access to all laboratory apparatuses through the Laboratory’s website by sending samples via express mail
• Holding educational workshops with a focus on the apparatuses available in the laboratory for students, faculty members, and even laboratory technicians working in departments inside and outside the University upon charging the related fees
• Studying the possibility of using the major equipment located in educational departments of the University as subsidiary units of the Central Laboratory and also the possibility of providing services to the units outside the University and
  charging the related fees
• Implementing a pay per performance system
• Defining the necessary parameters for monitoring the quality and productivity of laboratories with the aim of making timely decisions, identifying how to tackle threats and taking advantage of opportunities
• Establishing a customer feedback system for the improvement of marketing processes and the identification of the customers’ real needs so as to provide services with higher added values
• Establishing an internal administrative automation system to connect different laboratories and also the administrator and other sections to each other with the aim of minimizing the waste of time and unnecessary bureaucracy
• Establishing security and fire extinguishing systems for the Central Laboratory
• Examining the possibility of offering electrophoresis services for the identification of different proteins
