The First BRICS Computer Science and Cybersecurity ITG Meeting Held; University of Isfahan Volunteers to Chair

On 27 November 2025, the first meeting of the BRICS Computer Science and Cybersecurity ITG was held, with representatives from member universities. During the meeting, participants discussed the continuation of the ITG’s activities and agreed to organize upcoming sessions with the participation of faculty members from member universities to facilitate scientific and research collaborations. The University of Isfahan also expressed its readiness to chair the ITG.

The ITG focuses on the following key areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (including Deep Learning)
  • Network Security and Applied Cryptography
  • Big Data Analytics and Cloud Computing
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC)

Based on the strengths and existing capacities of the University of Isfahan, several initial collaborative initiatives were proposed:

  • Joint research projects in AI and Big Data Analytics, leveraging the university’s advanced computational infrastructure
  • Establishing a Virtual Joint Lab in the fields of Cybersecurity or Artificial Intelligence
  • Organizing joint summer schools (online or hybrid) on topics such as AI, Data Science, and Cybersecurity
  • Offering joint international courses among ITG members with contributions from University of Isfahan faculty
  • Co-supervision of Master’s and PhD theses between the University of Isfahan and other BRICS NU universities

This inaugural meeting marks an important step toward strengthening academic and research collaboration among BRICS member universities in the fields of computer science and cybersecurity.
