University of Isfahan to Host the 15th National Congress on Civil Engineering
The University of Isfahan will host the 15th National Congress on Civil Engineering on October 20–21, 2026, bringing together researchers, academics, industry representatives, and public-sector organizations to address key challenges in civil engineering and sustainable development. Held under the theme “Sustainable Development through an Environmental Problem-Solving Approach,” the congress aims to strengthen collaboration between universities, industry, and government institutions and promote research-based solutions to pressing environmental and infrastructure challenges. With a history spanning approximately five decades, the National Congress on Civil Engineering is an established scientific gathering in Iran. The University of Isfahan’s first-time hosting of this edition marks a milestone for the university and creates new opportunities for cooperation between the academic community and industry. The congress has received nearly 700 research submissions, of which approximately 470 papers have been accepted following a rigorous peer-review process. The accepted papers cover eight specialized areas, including surveying engineering, water resources and environmental engineering, structures and earthquake engineering, hydraulic structures, roads and railway engineering, transportation, and construction management. The scientific programme will address major challenges facing the country, including water scarcity, environmental degradation, land subsidence, sustainable construction, and transportation. Alongside research presentations, specialized workshops and industry-focused sessions will provide opportunities to exchange scientific findings, discuss practical challenges, and showcase technological advances.
The opening ceremony on October 20 will feature senior national and provincial officials, university leaders, and prominent academics. Scientific sessions, workshops, and joint activities with industry will continue throughout the two-day event. The closing ceremony on October 21 will recognize outstanding research contributions and acknowledge the organizations supporting the congress. Through this event, the University of Isfahan seeks to advance research collaboration and encourage practical, sustainable solutions to the country’s civil engineering and environmental challenges.
